Road Trip!
(: At 2 am on a Friday morning, Damian, Chris and I were on ICQ discussing Damian's plight of being stuck in Kuala Lumpur. Suddenly Damian had a brainwave! (at 2 in the morning, mind you.) "Why don't the two of you come down to KL for the weekend?"

*gasp* What a brilliant idea!! I had the whole weekend off. Chris is a bum. And Damian's suffering in KL.

..damn storm giant just killed my char on MUD..

Logistics - Or the lack of
The next thing to decide was what time should we actually leave? Took about 2 hours, but we finally agreed that Chris should leave Singapore immediately and cross the Causeway to beat the morning rush. I would then meet him at the Malaysian side in my Kembara and we will drive straight down to Kuala Lumpur.

Did it matter that this would be my first time driving out of State? Hell no.
Did it matter that we did not have a single clue how to get to Kuala Lumpur? Hell no.
Did it matter that I could not find a map of Kuala Lumpur at all? Hell no.
Did it matter that we were heading straight to Kuala Lumpur without booking any hotel accomodations at all? Hell no.

Within an hour's time, Chris called my cell from the Causeway. I was packed in 20 minutes, threw some Cokes into an ice-box, wasted time looking for ice for the ice-box, threw everything into my car. And off I went on my merry way at 5am in the morning.

Giggling, I picked Chris up and drove blindly towards the road signs that read "Kuala Lumpur". Hmm..what to say about the highway? Lots of toll booths. ): And, am I glad I topped up my gas tank before leaving.

We reached Damian's after about 4 hours. *boggle* We were in KL at nine in the morning!!! Peering up towards the morning sun, the three of us groaned and whined for about half an hour. To be awake at nine in the morning!

Damian had spent the first half of his life in KL, so he knows the roads, somewhat. (Though he did say things like, "Hey, I remember cycling across this road when I was a kid. Only this was just a dirt path, not a 6-lane highway." Things like this did shake our confidence in our guide drastically.)

We found the perfect hotel right in the midst of Megamall. And at 10am we were officially not-homeless in Kuala Lumpur. Three glorious days of food, food, shopping, getting lost in KL, meeting up with Roger and very funny friends, and more food. (:

On Monday at 6:30 in the morning, Damian knocked on our hotel door. And we piled into my car, back to reality. ):
