To New Zealand and to find:
1. A baby sheep for Caitlin.
2. Green-lipped mussel pills (?) for mumsie.
3. 30+ UMF Manuka Honey for Janice.
2 weeks of fun in Wellington and Auckland.
Fun, fun. Indeed.

+travel+ All my bags are packed, I'm ready to go!
Jakarta for a week at my favourite hotel ever, Mandarin Oriental.
I'm a fan!
Will be coming back at the end of the week with a suitcase full of Lapis Legit or Kueh Lapis.
Who would like one?

+travel+ All my bags are packed, I'm ready to go.
To Kuala Lumpur for the week.
To reflect on my recent failures over last weekend's poker.
To get a decent dose of laksa from Little Penang Cafe.
To come back with 6 dozen sugar glazed donuts.
Indeed.

+travel+ All my bags are packed, I'm ready to go.
Ah, Hong Kong.
This week's short and sweet trip, back to years ago- a fleeting and bitter-sweet memory.
My bag is 10.5 kg. I'm proud of myself. I've always had problems with baggage. Who can let go?
Crisp and juicy roast goose + springy wanton noodles + milky iced tea.
Maybe I will forget and learn to enjoy Hong Kong again.

+travel+ The eagle has landed.
I can't believe my suitcase is heavier AFTER the trip than before.
I didn't buy any junk. I got rid of a lot of notes and workbooks.
Duh?
Anyway, after a week of mutton bryani dinners, it's not the eagle who's landed. It's a big fat turkey.
*burp*

+travel+ All my bags are packed, I'm ready to go.
To Hanoi for a week.
I am looking forward to handmade fresh pate and crusty, soft baguette from Old Quarter.
Also bowls and bowls of fragrant, steaming, subtly flavoured beef consomme drowning a handful of rice vermicelli, dotted with broken pieces of fresh basil and a squeeze of lime.
And coffee! Fresh coffee, dripped impossibly slow over half a glass of sweet condensed milk and ice.
Ah Hanoi, how I love you!
By the way, this is the lightest bag I have packed in a while.

+travel+ I'm coming home, I've done my time.
Blurry, home!
My suitcase is bursting with FOUR huge Kueh Lapis or Lapis Legit as it is known in Indonesia. (I'll post a better photo soon.)
Countless layers of buttery baked goodness, stacked together lovingly to form a perfect rich, vanilla sweet special occasion cake.
This cake was brought by the Dutch to Indonesia almost a century ago. The Japanese have their own version, brought to them by the Portuguese. All similar, yet slightly different. All good!
Lapis Legit from Mandarin Oriental, @375,000 IDR each.
Ah, Mandarin Oriental, I am such a fan.
The cake's the best, I tell ya, the best!
That's how heavy my check-in suitcase is.
