In the early spring of 1980 Bruce Bethke wrote a little story about a bunch of teenage hackers. From the very first draft this story had a name, and lo, the name was-- Cyberpunk.

"And you can bet any body part you'd care to name that, had I had even the slightest least inkling of a clue that I would still be answering questions about this word nearly 18 years later, I would have bloody well trademarked the damned thing!"

Made a year after David Cronenberg's eXistenZ, Avalon is a dark and surreal movie where improvished people play a game called Avalon for fun and profit. In many dream-like sequences, the heroine plays in a FPS game, where players are gunned down in John Woo slow-mo shoot outs. Like a cross between "A Better Tommorrow" - the movie, and "Counter-strike" - that infernal FPS game, I cringe and await the inevitable, "FIRE IN THE HOLE! GO GO GO!".

I'm so excited. Since my last failure at making glycerin soaps, I've decided to make soap from scratch. The soap bases I was using previously were expensive and icky.

I bought a whole bunch of tubs of cocoa butter, exotic oils and such. I even purchased colours to put into the soap. I bought more molds! Stirrers! Funky additives : Sodium Benzoate and Citric Acid.

But strangely, I can't find lye. At all.

I bought two books : The Complete Soapmaker and Soapmaking for Fun and Profit.
I borrowed books from the library : Making Soaps!
I've surfed the internet for uncountable soap resources.

I am soooo ready to make soap this weekend.

I just need lye.

Its incredible what I managed to squeeze into a weekend.

Watched a movie : The Bourne Identity
Fulfilled social obligations : Alice, LF, Raymond, Gavin, Daphne, XH, Francis, Peter, KC and his bitch, Nick and his bitch.
Alex bought me a new toy! We sat around Spinelli's at Bugis Junction and terrorized the staff with the little car antics. From Tomy, Tomica Bit Char-G! A shiny new Toyota Celica in silver. Tests, Headlights!, Bits, more bits. He's so nice to me!
Demolished a large bottle of Choya!

I'd like to join the legions of wannabes and say 'Yeah, deep movie. I loved it.' Thus implying my superior intellect and obviously more sophisticated thinking than other pathetic souls, who I know for a fact will have NO IDEA what the show was about as I did on watching it the first time. But I perservered. Afterall, I am a superior being. I watched it again. And again. Oh yep. David Lynch is one strange puppy.
